S.C.I.E.S. has 14 years of combined Educational experience.
The main focus of S.C.I.E.S. is our K-12 grade Independent Study Program. Recently, S.C.I.E.S. has instituted an Adult Education Program specifically for those over 18 years of age, who do not have their High School Diploma.

Educationally, it is the philosophy of S.C.I.E.S. staff that the ideal learning situation for a student is comprised of five basic elements:
1. A loving, caring relationship between student and teacher.
2. A supportive, non-stressful environment.
3. Individualized curriculum devised for the student to learn at his/her own rate with special attention being paid to physical, emotional, and educational readiness.
4. The lowest possible teacher-student ratio.
5. Utilizing additional educational resources and people from within the home and surrounding community.

Southern CA Independent Educational Studies (S.C.I.E.S.) is
a private school specializing in Independent Study for home educating families. S.C.I.E.S. wishes to support Parent/Teacher in building strong, moral foundation based on principles that will enable the student to meet the challenges and conflicts he/she will encounter in life. Thus, S.C.I.E.S. offers a framework within which the family can sucessfully educate its children at home. We are here to encourage, uplift, and edify you. We desire to be an agent in strengthening of your abilities, while preserving your independence as a Parent/Teacher.

K-12 Home Education Tuition Policy: An enrollment fee of $35 per student is due at the time of registration. A monthly payment of $15 for the first student and $10 each additional student per family is due beginning September of academic year. No monthly tuition is due in the summer, although some families do continue their program throughout the summer. Summer school is not required it is optional. Tuition program cannot be pro-rated, therefore, any student enrolling after the beginning of that academic year (September) must include in first monthly payment, all back months. The total tuition for the year for the first student of each family is $150 per year or $15 per month. All tuition payments are due by the 10th day of each month. A $5 late fee will be added after the 10th of each month. If payment is not received by the 15th of the month due, student/students will be suspended until payment is received. Support System: Parent/Teachers with enrolled students are entitled to educational support. Although each family will choose its own curriculum and tailor its own program, S.C.I.E.S. is available to the parent/teacher to recommend and counsel on an as needed basis.
Parent/Teacher is obligated to a monthly appointment with S.C.I.E.S. staff. Attendance records, grades, test scores, special achievements, field trips, life skills activities must be recorded by the parent/teacher and reported to S.C.I.E.S. at least once monthly. This appointment will be scheduled in advance.

Home School Legal Defense Association (H.S.L.D.A.)
Although each family has the right to decide what is in their own best interest, S.C.I.E.S. highly recommends the family apply as a member of H.S.L.D.A.

Adult Education Program:
S.C.I.E.S. recently opened a division seperate from our K-12 grade program, offering Adults (over 18 yrs. of age) who have not yet obtained their High School Diploma, a course to complete their education. Please contact us directly to learn more information about this exciting new program.
